Cut out the money

I WONDER whether those claiming historic sexual abuse would come forward in quite the same numbers if they knew they would receive all the counselling and psychotherapy they could possibly want, but not a penny in compensation?

I believe this is the system in germany, and it sounds eminently sane and fair. it would certainly weed out those hoping to make a quick buck and deter fantasists, attentionseekers and liars, while helping genuine victims to find closure and move forward with their lives.

More important, it would go a long way towards protecting the reputations of the innocent.
