Dele gets the Pepsi golden ticket deal

- Charles Sale

ENGLAND and Spurs star Dele Alli is set to become the next footballer to be sponsored by Pepsi, whose clients past and present include David Beckham and Lionel Messi.

The glamorous seven-figure deal is understood to have been arranged by one of the leading sports agencies taking part in a beauty parade before the Hickford family in Milton Keynes in a bid to represent Dele.

Dele has lived with Alan and Sally Hickford since he was 13. His best friend, their son Harry, also played for the MK Dons academy. Dele has split with agent Rob Segal, but Segal still has him under contract for another two transfer windows. And whatever agency represents Dele next, the Hickford family are sure to remain as part of his management team. DAVID BECKHAM’S torturous route to a Major League Soccer franchise in Miami has finally overcome a legal fight over the stadium land — with a judge rejecting claims that a proper auction never took place. The next step is to negotiate the price of the franchise with other clubs not happy that Beckham’s financial backers will also benefit from the $25million discount promised him. There is no wish for Miami to start in the MLS with a temporary stadium, so the earliest they will be ready to join is 2020. BORIS BECKER ( right), whose employers, including the BBC at Wimbledon, have been told by lawyers to send his salary straight to the administrators, has a chance to significantly reduce his alleged £54million debts.

A claim for £7.7m plus interest made by Becker’s former business partner HansDieter Cleven has been dismissed by a Swiss court. Cleven has appealed and Becker’s response will be submitted by his Swiss legal team by November 9. If the Swiss Court of Appeal decide in Becker’s favour, Cleven’s claim will form no part of bankruptcy proceedings against the threetime Wimbledon champion — and be a muchneeded boost for Becker. THE Football League can’t be faulted for effort over their banana-skin Carabao Cup draws this season — two of which have been staged in Asia. The plan is to build a London event around the quarter-final draw of a competition yet to set the pulses racing. Good luck with that...
