Peace on menu for Rafa battlers

- CRAIG HOPE

NEWCASTLE scrappers Jamaal Lascelles and Mo Diame will take the squad for lunch to say sorry for a fight which left peacemaker Jonjo Shelvey with a broken hand. The pair clashed in training last week and Shelvey was hurt when he stepped in as punches were thrown. He will now wear a cast for tomorrow’s trip to Southampton. Manager Rafa Benitez is relaxed about the matter — joking that Shelvey will not take throw-ins. ‘They dealt with it. After they apologised to each other they had the idea to give a lunch for everyone,’ said Benitez. ‘It’s something that could be negative, but in the end it’s positive.’ Meanwhile, Spanish midfielder Mikel Merino, 21, sealed a £6.5million permanent move from Borussia Dortmund after arriving at St James’ Park on loan in July.
