POLISH the silver spoons — it’s a double birthday in the ReesMogg household.

Tory MP Jacob Rees-Mogg posted this celebratory picture from the weekend as eldest son Peter turned ten on Saturday, and wife Helena, the granddaughter of Earl Fitzwilliam, turned 40 on Sunday. Helena posed with Peter as he blew out his candles, surrounded by Mary, eight, Thomas, seven, Anselm, five, Alfred, one, and baby Sixtus, who was born in July.

The Roman Catholic clan live in a sprawling 17th- century Somerset manor house with a full-time nanny. Old Etonian Rees-Mogg poked fun at his privileged life with the caption: ‘Marie Antoinette would have approved of the cakes.’
