Duty bound

-

My HUSBAND and I have been carers for our parents for the past ten years (Letters).

this was not in the plan when we retired in our mid60s, but we felt it was our duty.

We get a carer’s allowance, but claim for nothing else and are part of the hidden band of conscientious people who take their family responsibilities seriously.

our children will probably not be willing to do so as successive governments have given their generation no incentive to act in this way.

We’d like to think we will eventually have time to use our freedom passes, unless by that time the privilege will have been removed!

P. FOSTER, Croydon, Surrey.
