Another Uptown Girl! Billy Joel becomes a father again at age of 68
WITH a host of albums and five Grammy awards to his credit after a career spanning five decades, you’d forgive Billy Joel if he felt like winding down.
But the American singer is showing no signs of slowing – and has become a father for the third time at the age of 68.
His 35-year-old wife Alexis gave birth to their second child, a daughter called Remy Anne, in New York on Sunday. A photo on the singer’s website shows him cradling Remy, who is dressed in pink and wearing a hat with her name embroidered on it.
Joel, whose hits include Uptown Girl and Movin’ Out, met his wife at a restaurant in 2009, when she was 29 and he was 60. She had been working for investment bank Morgan Stanley in New York. Their first child, Della Rose, was born in August 2015, a month after their July 4 wedding at his Long Island estate.
He also has a daughter, Alexa Ray, 31, with his ex-wife and model Christie Brinkley.
Alexis is the singer’s fourth wife. His first wife was Elizabeth Weber, who had been married to his bandmate Jon Small, but they divorced after nine years together. He later married Miss Brinkley, then Katie Lee, a university student he met in a hotel.
A statement on Joel’s website said: ‘Remy Anne Joel entered the world at 7.52pm weighing 7lb 3oz.
‘Billy Joel and his daughter Alexa were both at Alexis’s side as she gave birth. Alexis and Remy are doing well and everyone is thrilled.’
