Losing the plot
HAVE the police lost the plot (Mail)? Yes, ever since our constabulary started to believe they were the law and not just officers of it. They seem to want to investigate only ‘easy’ crimes, so motorists are seen as nothing but cash cows.
We love TV police programmes because they show policing as it should be, but not like it is. A friend who was once a copper told me we have the police force we deserve, so maybe it’s our own fault.
ALAN JACOBS, Biddenham, Beds. A MAN has been arrested for impersonating a police officer. While queuing for the dodgems, he was wearing high heels, nail varnish and an animal mask.
GEOFFREY PALMER, Nottingham. IS IT any wonder crime levels are rising when police forces around the country are dressing up like idiots?
Criminals must be laughing at them, especially when they know that when occasionally they are caught, they’ll probably be given only a caution.
And what about police and crime commissioners? Can anyone give any examples of any benefit they have produced? It was apparent when the role was proposed that they would be a complete waste of time and taxpayers’ money.
From the top down, law and order has become a joke.
