Meghan? I might bring her next year, Harry tells veterans

- By Richard Marsden

WHISPERS of a future royal engagement have been circulating for months.

But – thanks to one rather cheeky veteran – Prince Harry hinted that he and Meghan Markle could be making it official sooner rather than later. In a light-hearted conver- sation after placing crosses at Westminster Abbey’s Field of Remembrance yesterday, the 33-year- old prince said he might be bringing along his actress girlfriend Miss Markle, 36, next year. The suggestion came as he was joking with former Royal Engineer Matt Weston, who lost his legs in Afghanistan in 2009.

The 28-year-old said: ‘I took the Mickey and asked where his missus was, and he said she wasn’t here. I asked if she would come next time because she’s awesome, and he said he couldn’t hide her anywhere – but I said you wouldn’t have to hide her.’

The prince may have also have heard Big Ben chiming for the first time in three months yesterday. The 13.7 tonne Great Bell was sounded at 9am in preparation for tomorrow’s Armistice Day commemorations.
