Follow-up

ON THe subject of ballroom dancing (Peterborough), my husband and I were keen amateur dancers and about 20 years ago we took lessons. We even mastered the samba.

Not long after, we took a trip to the U.S. including a tour of Texas. We stayed in San Antonio on the Mexican border in a beautiful hotel.

After dinner each night there was dancing. We did the waltz, quickstep and one night the band leader announced the next dance would be a samba.

I pulled my husband onto the floor, saying that we could now do this dance. To our horror, no one else got up and we had to perform our basic samba for the entire dance. At the end, the audience applauded and the band leader said we’d shown up the Americans! Jean Howe, Southampton.
