GEORGE GROVES’S WBA super-middleweight title defence against Chris Eubank Jnr has been scheduled for February 17 at Manchester Arena. Londoner Groves had hoped the World Boxing Super Series semi-final would be in the capital. Fellow Briton Callum Smith is scheduled to fight Germany’s Jurgen Brahmer in the other semi.

VETERAN stand-off Kevin brown has been named in an unchanged england rugby league team for Saturday’s World Cup semi-final against Tonga — but he must prove his fitness. The Warrington playmaker, 33, took two bangs to the head in the quarter-final win over Papua new Guinea and will have a series of tests before he can take his place in the side.

THREE-time Olympian Tonia Couch has retired from diving. Couch, 28, won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and three European Championships medals, including gold in 2012. Couch, who will now take a coaching role in her home city of Plymouth, said: ‘I’ve loved every minute of it.’
