Drunk driver in handcuffs took police car

A DRUNK driver who was arrested and handcuffed stole a police car while officers were distracted, drove off and crashed.

Dominic O’Neill, 37, was pulled over after he was seen driving erratically. Officers handcuffed the father-of-seven and put him in the back of the police car.

But while they were dealing with other people in his Vauxhall Zafira, he climbed into the front, locked the doors and drove off before smashing into two cars on October 21.

After being arrested again, O’Neill, from Leicester, said: ‘It’s hard driving in handcuffs.’ He was jailed for 16 months for vehicle-taking and drink-driving.
