We’ll take top flight by storm — Ruddy

- PETER LANSLEY

THE autumn chill may be biting hard in the West Midlands but John Ruddy believes Wolves’ foreign contingent are proving they will not freeze. Cynics have suggested the Championship leaders’ expensive overseas signings will not be able to keep up their hot streak but Ivan Cavaleiro and Co show no signs of cooling off. Wolves keeper Ruddy said: ‘They look capable of coming through that gruelling programme and it is credit to their personalities and the type of guys they are.’ Wolves’ progress under Nuno Espirito Santos is reflected by eight wins from 10 games at Molineux. This fifth successive victory was set up by early goals from Willy Boly and Leo Bonatini. Nuno and Phil Parkinson were sent to the stands — ‘If managers are sent off for having an argument on the touchline, there will be no one left in the dugout,’ the Bolton boss said — but Wolves were left high-fiving after Cavaleiro scored twice, interspersed by Will Buckley’s reply. Diogo Jota completed the rout. Ruddy said: ‘It is easy for people to say from the outside, “They’ve got money to spend on this and that”, but you still need that togetherness and team spirit and that doesn’t get bought. ’ Five of Wolves’ featured 14 players are on loan. ‘If we do achieve our goal of promotion, hopefully those loan players can be here next year as well and we can really take the Premier League by storm,’ Ruddy added. ‘This is the best squad I’ve been involved in — the individual quality, the togetherness of the team.’ Parkinson suggested Wolves could even win the league by 10 points.
