Playing futsal at school every day helped me reach the top

FOOTBALL LEAGUE ONE TO ELEVEN . . .

- LAURIE WHITWELL

FIRST FOOTBALL MEMORY...

Playing futsal. We started at school in Belo Horizonte and did it before school each day. I studied in a school that was very good with sports. Futsal (indoor football) gave me the ability to play in small spaces.

BEST PLAYER I’VE PLAYED WITH...

There were some at Juventus but just in training, so here at Wolves I really like to play with Ruben Neves. He is amazing. He is very young but he knows everything he is going to do.

TOUGHEST OPPONENT...

Nelson Semedo. He’s a very fast guy and he is clever, the most difficult to beat. He was at Benfica when I was at Estoril.

FAVOURITE FOOTBALLING MOMENT...

It is hard to name one. Playing for my country — I scored at the Under 17s World Cup for Brazil — and also my first game in a professional league.

SPORTING HERO...

Easy. Ronaldo (the Brazilian one). He’s the only guy I asked my mother to buy as a T-shirt. I loved watching him play.

TOUGHEST AWAY GROUND...

Loftus Road. The game against QPR was very difficult because of the small pitch. We really like to play at Molineux.

FIRST ALBUM I BOUGHT...

It was something by Thiaguinho, a Brazilian singer. He has a song To Te

Filmando. It gives me happiness.

KARAOKE SONG...

I would do one of Thiaguinho’s songs as it is easier to sing for me. But believe me, I am a bad singer. So if I can choose not to do it, I would.

BEST-DRESSED TEAM-MATE...

Barry Douglas, he dresses very well. I tell him for fun he is the worst but he comes every day with nice clothes.

DREAM DINNER PARTY GUESTS...

As well as Ronaldo, I would like to invite Ronaldinho (below). I really enjoyed watching him. It would be good to talk.

IF I WASN’T A FOOTBALLER...

My father wanted me to be a doctor. He didn’t mind about football, but my mother loves it. She supported me more, she drove me to all the games. My mother helped me a lot.
