Dame Carolyn’s 50pc pay cut as she quits EasyJet

FORMER EasyJet boss Dame Carolyn McCall saw her salary nearly halve this year after missing out on a bonus and share incentives.

The 56-year-old ( pictured), who left the budget carrier last month to head up ITV in the new year, was paid £757,000 in 2017 compared to £1.5m the year before.

She received a basic salary of £706,000, £49,000 towards her pension and £2,000 in benefits – but no bonus or performance rewards.

The pay cut marks the end of her seven-year tenure at the airline, which saw her become one of Britain’s most sought-after – and best paid – bosses. And it is a further blow for campaigners for equal pay for female executives.

When McCall joins ITV she will earn less than current chief Adam Crozier, it was revealed.

On top of this, the appointment of new EasyJet chief Johan Lundgren sparked controversy when it was revealed that he would also receive more than mother-of-three McCall – despite having no experience of running a major company.

Father-of-two Lundgren, 51, will receive a basic salary of £740,00, and can also earn an extra £1.5m in bonuses and £1.9m in long-term share rewards.
