The beggar, Princess Pushy and her husband’s tenner
Beggars ambush Princess Pushy and husband outside restaurant
IT was not quite the end to a lovely evening they had been expecting.
Princess Michael of Kent and her husband Prince Michael had dined at an exclusive Mayfair club and restaurant, and left to head home at 11pm.
But as they did the princess – dubbed Princess Pushy by other royals – was ambushed by beggars. The group of persistent women, believed to be Romanian, swamped the royals’ black Princely sum: The £10 note BMW as they tried to leave LouLou’s. A witness said the 75year-old prince tipped the valet driver but was then approached by the women who spotted a wad of notes in his hand. He handed £10 to one of themn. But that only attracted a chorus of pleas from the others.
‘The prince was very nice but when he gave one of them £10 the others were all over him like bees, saying “Please, please, please”,’ he said.
Staff from LouLou’s are said to have stepped in to allow Princess Michael, 72, who was behind the wheel, to drive off. She was pictured smiling at one of the women who was trying to sell her a rose.
The beggars, believed to be from Queensway, are said to operate in the area each evening from 8pm until 3am, targeting patrons of restaurants and bars.
