AND HE’S KNOT HAPPY AT PEP’S YELLOW RIBBON
JOSE MOURINHO has questioned whether old rival Pep Guardiola should be allowed to stand on the touchline wearing a yellow ribbon in support of the Catalan politicians jailed over the region’s fight for independence. ‘I’ve known Pep for many years,’ the United boss said. ‘I think I know what Pep feels about his country. To have it in football — I don’t know the rules. If the rules allow, he is a free citizen to do it but I’m not sure if the rules allow any political message on the pitch. I think I wouldn’t be allowed to.’
In fact, UEFA changed their rules this season so only offensive messages are now forbidden — a stance shared by the FA.
