LEAGUE ONE THIS WEEKEND

- TOM FARMERY

HERO OF THE WEEK

STEVE LOVELL: While supporters who follow Gillingham away have seen a number of league wins this season, those who have waited patiently at home were rewarded on Saturday. Lovell’s side picked up their first victory at Priestfield since mid-September by thrashing Bristol Rovers 4-1. The win was enough to move the Gills out of the relegation zone.

ZERO OF THE WEEK

HARRY FORRESTER: Wimbledon were 1- 0 down to Wigan Athletic when Forrester was sent off for a second yellow following a late challenge on Sam Morsy after 69 minutes. It then took Nick Powell just four minutes to grab a second goal for Wigan, before Max Power and Ivan Toney added two more.

GOAL OF THE WEEK

MARK BYRNE: One of the four goals scored by Gillingham but definitely the best. Lee Martin delivered a driven cross that Byrne struck beautifully on the volley to send the ball crashing past Bristol Rovers goalkeeper Adam Smith.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

STUART McCALL: ‘ This is a fantastic three-point haul for us,’ the Bradford manager said after Charlie Wyke’s 90th- minute penalty sealed a 2- 1 win at Southend. ‘We knew how tough it would be to come here.’

STAT OF THE WEEK

BLAC Manc recor BLACKBURN’S winning streak now stretches to six games. Only Manchester City have a better record in England’s top four tiers.
