BANK CHAIRMAN KNIGHTED

-

ONE of the City’s most respected chairmen has been awarded a knighthood.

Anthony Habgood, 71, is chairman of the Court of the Bank of England, the board which holds governor Mark Carney to account. He is a veteran of some of Britain’s biggest companies, and has enjoyed a glittering City career that at one point saw him leading the boards of two FTSE 100 companies, Whitbread and RELX Group.

The father-of-three, a Cambridge graduate, has been described as ‘cool and controlled’. He has homes in both London and Norfolk, and once admitted: ‘I haven’t sought a high profile.’
