SFO starts search for a new director
THE Serious Fraud Office has started its search for a new director – months after it was saved from the axe.
David Green, 63, is retiring from the white collar crime-busting agency. His replacement could earn more than £170,000 to take on a heavy caseload including ongoing probes into Unaoil and Airbus.
A job advert says: ‘Prosecutions by the SFO are some of the most serious dealt with in this jurisdiction and are often politically and economically sensitive, international in nature and subject to high levels of public scrutiny’. The right candidate needs excellent legal and analytical skills, it adds.
In May Prime Minister Theresa May had pledged to close the organisation. But the plans caused an outcry and were scrapped.
