CORBYN FIRES LABOUR PEER
JEREMY Corbyn last night fired a Labour peer who went to the Presidents Club dinner.
The Labour leader asked Lord Mendelsohn, who was the party’s international trade spokesman in the Lords, to step back from the front bench over concerns about his attendance.
A Labour Lords spokesman said the peer attended ‘as president of a charity that received support from the event’ and had not witnessed any of the ‘appalling incidents’ described.
A spokesman for Mr Corbyn said: ‘There can be no excuse for anyone’s attendance.’
Lord Mendelsohn is a trustee of the Holocaust Educational Trust and the UK arm of the New Israel Fund.
