No teen party woes

-

SARAH VINE’S description of her daughter’s 15th birthday party being sabotaged by obnoxious boys (Mail) reminds me of the do one of my three daughters organised when she was about to leave school.

I thought her class of 30 teenagers shouldn’t be a problem, so we cleared out one of the barns, hired a disco and cleaned up the barbecue. To my

surprise, there was an announcement at her college and suddenly the guest list had grown to 300.

i was a special constable and asked my mates in the police to show a presence.

Though i had been worried about something going horribly wrong, none of us saw anything untoward.

Chatting to the youngsters, i was impressed on how focused they were on their plans for their future education. i feel grateful to have been luckier than sarah.

JOHN MAXWELL, Soham, Cambs. WHY was sarah Vine surprised boys from posh schools could behave so badly? Being part of an elite does not guarantee good manners or behaviour. ROGER FOWNES, Bromsgrove, Worcs.
