SILK SCARVES: THE RULES

● LOOK for silk fabrics. Bulky, woollen scarves may be more functional, but silk scarves are better suited to artful adornment.

● BE MINIMAL with your other accessories, such as earrings and necklaces. A silk scarf is your jewellery — no other statement needed.

● THINK beyond draping them round your neck. Silk scarves work brilliantly as wrist ties, hair accessories, belts, even bag straps.

● SEARCH your wardrobe before you buy. Chances are that you have some forgotten gems lurking in the back there!
