Toxic RBS report push

-

PRESSURE was last night mounting on City watchdogs to publish their full findings on Royal Bank of Scotland’s toxic turnaround unit after fresh details leaked.

The Financial Conduct Authority’s report into the state-backed bank’s Global Restructuring Group (GRG) has only been released in summary form.

But there are growing calls for the entire 350-page document to be made public amid concerns the summary leaves out the most damning conclusions.

GRG was meant to help firms stay afloat during the Great Recession. However critics claim it instead deliberately destroyed them and seized their assets.

The summary report already found that priority was given to squeezing cash out of firms rather than saving them.

But the full report reveals further shocking details of how staff mimicked a foreign customer, plotted to help themselves to the stock of a bankrupt shop and were urged to let customers ‘hang themselves’.

Labour MP John Mann said the full document should be published immediately.
