HENRY ADAMS (Trevor White) sails out into the San Francisco Bay, gets swept out to sea, is picked up by a passing brig and arrives penniless in London. Two eccentric Englishmen have a bet as to whether Henry can survive for a month in London with a millionpound banknote in his pocket. Mark Twain’s 1893 short story THE MILLION POUND BANKNOTE (RADIO 4 EXTRA, 10AM, 3PM) has been dramatised for radio by Bryony Lavery.
