Morrisons’ egg deal
MOrriSONS has bought free-range egg supplier Chippindale Foods.
The supermarket said the acquisition was part of its commitment to provide customers with fresh food, and will see it work closely with farmers to ensure the welfare of hens and the quality of their eggs. Chippindale’s 54 staff at its site in Flaxby, North Yorkshire, will become Morrisons employees, while its managing director Nick Chippindale will stay at the business.
Morrisons did not disclose how much it paid for the company.
Shares crept up 0.2pc, or 0.4p, to 221.2p.
