SHARES in oil and petrol firm Enquest soared yesterday after it told investors to expect production to grow by up to 55pc this year.

In an operations update, the bullish firm, which operates mainly in the North Sea, told investors to expect ‘material production growth in 2018’.

It also said its Kraken oil field was on schedule and under budget. Amjad Bseisu, the firm’s chief executive, said: ‘Performanc­e at Kraken continues to improve.’ Shares rose 12.7pc, or 3.7p, to 32.7p.
