£450,000 FINE FOR ALBION’S FOUR BAD BOYS

-

THE four West Bromwich Albion players accused of stealing a taxi in Barcelona are set to escape legal action in Spain but face a combined club fine of £450,000. Gareth Barry, Jake Livermore, Boaz Myhill and Jonny Evans (below) apologised for breaking the curfew on a night out during West Brom’s training camp last week. It was thought the quartet might have to go through the local courts after allegedly leaving the taxi driver stranded so they could return to their hotel in the early hours of Thursday. But prosecuters have decided not to proceed due to a ‘lack of proof’. Sources in Spain suggested the taxi driver decided against pressing charges. West Brom’s internal investigation may take another fortnight, but the four players are each set for the maximum fine of two weeks’ wages.
