We’re great! Cheryl shrugs off split rumours

- By Susie Coen Showbusiness Reporter

CHERYL COLE yesterday broke her silence on rumours about a split with boyfriend Liam Payne – insisting the pair are ‘great’ and speculation ‘doesn’t bother’ her.

The singer, 34, welcomed her son Bear just 11 months ago with Payne, but sources claimed on Sunday that their two-year relationship is on the brink of collapse.

She told BBC Breakfast that charity work was her only focus after opening Cheryl’s Trust Centre, a branch of the Prince’s Trust in Newcastle that helps support vulnerable youngsters in her home city.

‘[The claims don’t] bother me at all because my focus is solely on this,’ she said. Dressed in a £1,300 camel coat, jeans and a blue polo neck, the former Girls Aloud star later hit back at a fan who asked if the couple were OK, replying: ‘Yeah, we’re great. Are you OK?’

Her comments came after claims One Direction star Payne, 24, had contacted lawyers about protecting his £54million fortune. A source told the Sun: ‘Liam has sought some legal advice but he still wants to make it work. It’s just sensible to be prepared for all options.’
