Late sales delay £142m Lottery
THE EuroMillions website ground to a halt and the draw had to be delayed after a surge of punters tried to snap up tickets for Tuesday’s £142million jackpot.
Organisers Camelot said the National Lottery site struggled to cope with ‘unprecedented demand’ in the last hour before sales closed.
It is now urging punters hoping to win the life- changing sum – likely to top £150million tomorrow – to buy tickets early to avoid disappointment.
Online customers became frustrated after they were greeted by a ‘Please try again’ message before the last draw.
Many took to social media to complain, with one tweeting: ‘Disgusting, what is going on? Eight minutes from the £142million draw and can’t put any lines on whatsoever. Not even going to get a chance now. Been trying for half an hour, gutted.’
