Surgery puts Neymar out of Real tie

-

NEYMAR must have an operation in Brazil before the end of the week after an agreement between his club Paris Saint-Germain and the Brazilian federation last night. The world’s most expensive player suffered a fractured metatarsal and a sprained ankle in Sunday’s French league win over Marseille. The decision means the £198million forward will miss Tuesday’s return leg of PSG’s Champions League tie against Real Madrid, which the Spanish holders lead 3-1. PSG coach Unai Emery had said he thought Neymar, 26, had a ‘small chance’ of facing Madrid, denying reports he needed surgery. However, Brazil’s World Cup hopes in Russia this summer will hinge on the fitness of their talisman. His father Neymar Snr said PSG knew all along, adding: ‘His treatment will last six to eight weeks.’
