Tesco cards cancelled

SOME Tesco Bank customers have had credit cards cancelled after concerns their details had fallen into the hands of fraudsters.

Those hit have received texts and will be sent new cards in about a week. The bank said only a tiny proportion of its 3m customers are affected.

The step has been taken as a precaution after a warning from a thirdparty firm that its security may have been ‘compromised’.

The bank said: ‘We take the security of our customers’ accounts very seriously.

‘As a result of industrywide fraud protection measures, we have reissued a number of credit cards as a precautionary measure. We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused.’
