RIO: LOOK HOW HIGH HE IS OFF THE FLOOR!

- By MATT BARLOW

RIO FERDINAND led the praise for Cristiano Ronaldo after the Real Madrid star’s ‘moment of brilliance’ against Juventus last night. Ronaldo had already become the first player to score in 10 consecutive Champions League games when he stabbed home the opening goal after three minutes. He then doubled Real’s advantage in the 64th minute with an audacious bicycle kick that flew past keeper Gianluigi Buffon and brought a standing ovation from the Turin crowd. ‘He’s in a relentless pursuit of greatness and produces a moment of brilliance,’ former Manchester United and England defender Ferdinand told BT Sport. ‘To see one of the greatest — if not THE greatest player — on the planet produce a movement like this. Look how high he is off the floor? He’s a joke.’ Real coach Zinedine Zidane said: ‘That’s why he stands out from the others, he can do incredible things.’ Frank Lampard was equally impressed. ‘For me, that’s his best,’ said the former Chelsea midfielder. Ronaldo’s stunner drew a wry tweet from Sportsmail’s Peter Crouch, who memorably scored an overhead kick for Liverpool against Galatasaray in 2006. Crouch posted: ‘There is only a few of us who can do that.’
