ORANGES AND LEMONS — UP TO THREE MONTHS

-

Both oranges and lemons can be stored for up to three months, as long as they are carefully handled. Straight after picking, they will be cooled — either with water or fans — to take the ‘field heat’ out of them and then refrigerated at between 0c and 8c, or slightly warmer for lemons. they may also be treated with a fungicide and coated with a wax, which will help preserve moisture within the fruit while also improving its appearance. If harvested when still green, lemons can be stored for a longer period of time than if picked yellow. once purchased, the shelf-life of both oranges and lemons can be further extended by storing them in the fridge.
