Berahino banished to Under 23s by Lambert for turning up late

PAUL LAMBERT has sent Saido Berahino to train with Stoke’s Under 23s after growing exasperate­d at the striker’s poor time-keeping. Berahino trained with the youngsters yesterday having reported late for a match on Easter Monday. Stoke have a strict code of conduct and this latest indiscreti­on by Berahino points to a bleak future under Lambert. As well as being exiled for showing up late, the 24-year-old was fined. Despite spite a promising start to his career, Berahino (right) has not scored a senior goal for two years.

NEWCASTLE goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has told parent club Sparta Prague to forget about t interest from elsewhere because he wants to remain on Tyneside. The Slovakian, who arrived on loan in January, said: ‘I want to stay here, but I need to be focused until the last game.’
