Show porn to children at school, says TV doctor

-

SCHOOLS should show porn to pupils to teach them about sex, according to TV doctor Christian Jessen.

The 41-year-old presenter also called for parents to show their children ‘ridiculous images’ so they can see the difference between porn and real life.

Dr Jessen, pictured, best known for Channel 4’s Embarrassing Bodies, said the discussions should start ‘as early as you can’ so that it doesn’t become a ‘secretive, odd thing’.

He added: ‘Make kids cringe and squirm. It’d be very helpful in sex education to show the distinction between porn and sex as you have it. Most parents won’t have the gumption, but at school that could be a good lesson’.

Acknowledging that parents might object to this, he told The Daily Telegraph: ‘Not full-on porn, but images, for example, and then they could discuss whether that’s a good thing or not.

‘Get them to watch this video of a man being fairly aggressive to a woman in porn and talk about that. Parents would be in outcry, but so what?’

It is compulsory for schools to teach students sex education from the age of 11, including lessons on reproduction, sexuality and sexual health. Parents are allowed to withdraw their children from all non-scientific parts of sex education if they wish.

Dr Jessen, who runs a Harley Street clinic in London, also suggested parents should monitor children’s use of social media because of their effect on those with weight or mental health problems.
