Stinkers! Moped thugs smash their way into Boots to grab the perfumes

- Daily Mail Reporter

THEIR faces hidden inside helmets, four moped raiders empty the perfume shelves of a high street chemist.

It took them only moments to fill shopping bags with scents from YSL, Armani, Hugo Boss, Paco Rabanne, Givenchy, Diesel, Dior, Lacoste, DKNY, Davidoff, Cerruti and CK One.

They escaped with more than £5,000 worth of designer fragrances in the late-night raid on the branch of Boots in Temple Fortune, north London.

Undeterred by the presence of passengers getting off night buses nearby, the shameless black-clad gang had smashed their way into the shop with a concrete post that one of them had brought along with him. Detective Constable Kim Louey from Barnet’s major crime unit said: ‘We are appealing for anyone who may have seen these suspects.

‘We know from CCTV that drivers and buses were operating at the time of the offence, with passengers getting off the bus as the suspects loaded up their mopeds with the goods.’ No arrests have been made. The Temple Fortune raid comes as the capital’s police struggle to stem a rising number of moped crimes.

In many cases young thugs raid jewellers and other stores to order before passing on the spoils to organised criminals to sell. The trend has led to soaring numbers of scooter and motorbike thefts so they can be used as getaway vehicles.
