CITY STARS SITTING PRETTY AS THEIR VALUE SKYROCKETS
MANCHESTER CITY are top of the charts once again — this time for the average transfer value of their players. The CIES Football Observatory has published figures from the top divisions in England, Spain, France, Italy and Germany and City are top with an average transfer value of £55.4million per first-team player. Second are Barcelona on £48.8m then Tottenham on £45.2m. The Premier League’s economic power, performance levels, long-term contract duration and youthfulness are the key criteria in explaining City’s dominant position. Seven players of the City squad — who got their hands on the Premier League trophy on Sunday — have a transfer value of more than £88m (€100m). They are Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Ederson.
