Labour MP’s ‘tactless’ rant about Diana

A LABOUR MP has been criticised for saying Princess Diana would have disapproved of the royal wedding.

Republican Emma Dent Coad claimed Prince Harry’s mother would have been critical of the cost of the royal carriage ride and the way homeless people in Windsor were treated. She was speaking at an anti-monarchist event on Saturday, The Sun reported.

But Tory MPs defended the royal family last night. Nicholas Soames, who attended the wedding, said: ‘This lady won’t have a clue what Princess Diana thought.’ And Trade Minister Greg Hands said the Kensington MP was ‘utterly tactless’.
