H&M: 5 different sizes from XS to 14
THE Swedish multinational is the Ikea of clothing. I pick up tops for work or update my holiday wardrobe, but I haven’t bought dresses or trousers before.
I opt for a navy skirt (£24.99), pastel chinos (£17.99), a fun T-shirt (£8.99), a versatile blouse (£17.99) and a red dress (£19.99) .
According to the company, I am a size 14-16, but some clothes are confusingly sized from XS to XL.
The only thing that fits me in a 14 is the pleated skirt. I match it with the blouse, but the gaping sides mean I go down to a 10.
The polyester red dress is a bargain at £19.99, but the Medium is too bulky and it fits me best in the Small (10-12).
In the chinos, my underwear is visible through the 10 and the 14 is loose at the waist; the 12 is the best fit. The shoulders of the T-shirt are too wide until I get down to an XS (UK 6-8). H& M declined to comment.
VERDICT: Sizes vary so much you have to try everything.
