Buy British? Not in EU!

-

HAVING recently visited the Continent, the decision by the House of Lords to make Brexit as difficult as possible for the Government is difficult to comprehend. After four weeks travelling around France, Germany, Italy and Spain, it was hard to imagine that the UK is actually part of the Common Market.

We saw no British products in the supermarkets, saw few British cars on the roads and British beer was not served in bars or restaurants.

The only country that has truly adopted the concept of the Common Market is Britain, where you can buy Spanish food, French wine, German cars and Italian fashion.

The vote to leave the EU has nothing to do with immigration, laws or rules. It is about the fact that, of the 28 members of the EU, we have been the only one to approach the Common Market concept with an open mind. MELANIE McDONNELL, Sedgefield, Co. Durham.
