Six-month blitz on MPs, unions and voters to thwart PM’s Brussels deal

-

MAY...

BILLBOARDS have already been put up across the country arguing, ‘We all deserve a final say on the Brexit deal,’ as part of a nationwide advertising blitz. In parallel, Best for Britain has launched an online drive encouraging supporters to write to their MPs demanding a second referendum. Activists have also started lobbying the Labour Party at a local level through ‘grassroots events’ in constituencies up and down Britain.

JUNE...

PLANS have been drawn up to use World Cup fever to argue the case for remaining in the EU, as campaigners will claim Brexit is bad for sport. As part of an effort to convince people that Brexit does not need to happen, Best for Britain intends to spread claims that the 1 .4million who voted Leave were not actually rejecting the EU. ‘This was a vote against London as much as Brussels,’ says the planned messaging.

JULY...

ACTIVISTS believe they can use the trade unions to strong-arm Jeremy Corbyn into blocking Brexit. Their effort to mobilise the unions will begin in earnest at a policy conference in July organised by Unite, the country’s biggest union, to decide on its priorities for the year ahead. Labour has so far resisted calls for a second EU referendum.

AUGUST...

PROMINENT Labour figures will tour the country arguing that Britain should remain in the EU as part of a ‘Labour Against Brexit’ speaker tour. Nationally, Best for Britain plans to focus its campaign on claims that Brexit is putting the UK’s unity and security at risk. It has also pencilled in the possibility of looking at the issue of animal rights.

SEPTEMBER...

BEST for Britain will ramp up pressure on Labour to block Brexit at its party conference and the annual gathering of the TUC. Hundreds of anti-Brexit campaigners will gather in Westminster to ‘greet’ MPs as they return to Parliament following party conference season.

OCTOBER...

CAMPAIGNERS are already planning how they will denounce Theresa May’s Brexit deal, no matter what she comes back with from Brussels. ‘Now we can finally see the real facts, this is not what we voted for,’ activists plan to say. One of Best for Britain’s main aims is to get the Commons to vote against the agreement.
