Eyes off the road... at 40mph!

With her child in the back seat, a woman drives at 40mph along a busy dual carriageway – while she applies her mascara.
The blonde driver was caught on camera looking in the mirror of her sun visor as she put on her make-up. With the mascara brush in one hand and the tube in the other she carefully perfected her eyelashes. She and her child, thought to be around three, were spotted by a photographer at the roadside as she drove her white Honda CRV 4x4 in Bournemouth.
Sergeant Mark Farrow, of the Dorset Police traffic unit, said: ‘Most motorists would realise that putting make-up on while driving is simply irresponsible. As an officer who deals with the often tragic aftermath when a driver is distracted at the wheel, I would like to make a plea to drivers to think about their actions.’
He said motorists should remember they are behind the wheel of a ‘lethal weapon’ adding: ‘While you think you can get away with it, it is vital that drivers realise they could kill someone.’
