STHIS brand-new version of Shakespeare’s powerful and timely exploration of greed, love, power and mortality is set in the fictional present, and features ft a cast that wouldn’t look out of place in the Globe Theatre. Anthony Hopkins takes the lead as Lear, who divides his kingdom between his three daughters (played by Florence Pugh, Emily Watson and Emma Thompson, right, with Hopkins) according to what he perceives as their affection for him, with terrible consequences for both king and country. Without a doubt, this is a real bank holiday treat.
