ENGLAND (3-5-2) TEAM AVERAGE 6.8

JACK BUTLAND 6.5 Made one decent stop but rarely troubled. Distribution was encouraging and always looks comfortable in possession. PHIL JONES 6.5 This England side might be easy on the eye but the Manchester United man consistently does the dirty defensive work. JOHN STONES 7 Loves to step up into midfield and this formation should suit the ball-playing Stones, who is growing in confidence. HARRY MAGUIRE 6.5 Leicester City stopper is not quite as quick on the ball as his colleagues, although makes up for that by defending with gusto. TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD 6 A relatively quiet debut on the right. Showed a couple of classy touches and certainly didn’t look out of place. RUBEN LOFTUS-CHEEK 6 Grew into the game, which will be noted by the manager. So strong when he carries the ball forward and is a definite asset. JORDAN HENDERSON 7 Captain’s performance from the Liverpool midfielder. Drove England on and seems to have unlocked a new aspect to his game. FABIAN DELPH 7 All the hallmarks of a Pep Guardiola disciple: willing runner and imaginative at finding space in a now-unfamiliar midfield role. DANNY ROSE 7.5 Certainly looks fit enough to start on June 18 after a buccaneering night back at Elland Road where he began his career with Leeds. MARCUS RASHFORD 8 Dazzled from start to finish. Super strike from 30 yards for the opening goal and excelled in general play when dropping off. JAMIE VARDY 6.5 Leicester striker was tireless in his running but was just missing a little bit of luck in front of goal. Looked fired up. REFEREE HIROYUKI KIMURA (JPN) 6 Became fussy towards half-time. ATTENDANCE 36,104
