Jet diverted as stag do thugs threaten crew

-

FAMILIES jetting off on holiday endured a three-hour diversion after ‘drunk and aggressive’ men on a stag do threatened the crew.

The flight from Birmingham to Ibiza, with young children on board, was rerouted to Toulouse and met by French police.

Passengers reported seeing abusive men going ‘nose to nose’ with cabin crew members. One of the thugs has been banned from the airline for life.

The diversion on Friday meant the Jet2 flight, which should have taken two-and-a-half hours, lasted five-and-a-half. A spokesman for the budget airline said: ‘Our crew had already made the decision to stop sales of alcohol on the flight after one member of the group was refused boarding for being drunk and aggressive.

‘Despite that, a number of the party continued to act in a deplorable and aggressive fashion once on the aircraft. After repeat warnings, the crew took the decision to divert the aircraft in the interests of everyone’s comfort and safety.’

Jet2 managing director Phil Ward added: ‘This left some of our highly trained crew extremely upset.’ He said the airline would do all it could to make sure the men were held accountable.
