Each of the nine fragrances is based around a single natural ingredient — such as iris, vetiver or rose. So you can pick your favourite aroma and indulge in a perfume that actually smells like what it says on the bottle.

The latest addition to the range is Mandarine (right, £102.50 for 100ml, johnlewis.com), a citrusy fragrance designed for both men and women. It’s perfect if you enjoy fruity smells that aren’t too sickly and saccharine.

The bitter orange blends with notes of zesty vert de mandarine and orange blossom to create a sweet, yet refreshing, scent that is perfect for high summer.
