DeFenDinG champions Duddingston joined the exodus of last year’s finalists in the Daily Mail Foursomes after they were knocked out at Minto, losing to Lynn Bruce and Carolyn oliver who eased into the last 64. Dorothy yeaman and Heather tumblety had been hoping to keep their club’s winning run going after taking over from last year’s winners Dee Williams and Karen Ferguson-snedden, but it was their scottish rivals Minto who cruised to a 5 & 4 victory. this means all of the clubs who reached last year’s grand finals are now out. Bruce said: ‘after a rather faltering start we made use of home advantage to win it.’ Bruce praised tumblety, from Duddingston, saying: ‘she played some exquisite shots and is a joy to watch.’ the pace is increasing now, as the pairs only need to win two more matches to secure a place in october’s showpiece event at Marriott st Pierre in Chepstow.
