Help, I’m being chased by Tufty!

-

A MAN had to be rescued by police as he was chased down the street by a baby squirrel.

Officers said the unnamed man called them in a panic claiming the animal was following him.

When a patrol car arrived at the scene in Karlsruhe, south-west Germany, they found the creature was still in pursuit. The foot-chase only ended when the squirrel lay down and fell asleep – apparently exhausted by the drama.

Police said it probably targeted the man because it had been separated from its mother and was looking for a new home. Spokesman Christina Krenz told The Guardian that the attention ‘can be scary’. She added that the caller ‘was certainly feeling a bit threatened’.

The squirrel was taken into police custody, then to an animal rescue centre where it was last night said to be well.

Last year authorities in New York had to warn visitors to a park about a particularly aggressive squirrel after it attacked five people in a week.
