NatWest lures students with Amazon discount

BANKS are enticing students with an array of freebies.

NatWest is offering new student customers one-year Amazon Prime membership and a National Express Coachcard, with an interest-free overdraft of up to £2,000.

Lloyds Bank has added a free NUS Extra card for student accounts opened between August 1 and October 31 — and offers an interest-free overdraft of up to £1,500.

Rachel Springall, of Moneyfacts, says: ‘Banks are promoting accounts through freebies rather than the level of their interestfree overdrafts. This is probably down to a greater public awareness of consumer debt.’
