THE finance director of Dixons Carphone has scooped almost £2m in share awards, in a hefty pay package struck to lure him from Halfords.

Jonny Mason, who was fined £12,000 in 2016 for drunk-driving a golf buggy around a Norwegian resort, was named CFO in March. Dixons said at the time it would pay him up to £390,000 in shares to compensate him for awards he lost when he left the car parts firm.

But it yesterday confirmed that his actual loss was just £143,286.
